Rolex Submariner Date 116610LN Review

Can you ever go wrong with a Rolex? The renowned maker of swiss timepieces has a long history and strong reputation of innovation and prestige. With over 500 patents under its belt, Rolex is a trailblazer in the industry. The Rolex watch has become a must-have accessory for presidents, celebrities, business tycoons, and athletes alike. One of the brand’s iconic watches is the Rolex Submariner, which we will review in this article. Specifically, we will take a dive into one of the popular models: The Rolex Submariner Date 116610LN. Feel free to call Atlanta Luxury Watches or stop by our location to take a look at our selection of Rolex products.

The Rolex Submariner

First introduced in 1954, the Submariner represented the first publicly available timepiece capable of plunging 100 meters underwater. That only set the bar. Rolex continued to shatter records with intense investment in the Submariner collection. For much of the 1960s, Rolex tested new waters. In 1967, Rolex debuted the Sea-Dweller Submariner with a 610-meter water resistance. It was a year prior to this commercial debut that the Submariner line added a new member, the Submariner Date complete with the Cyclops lens which magnified the date display. Today, the regular Submariner can withstand water pressure until down 300 meters.

The Rolex Submariner Date’s Dial

As a diver watch, the Rolex Submariner Date is meant to be useful in depths where sunlight can barely reach. As such, the stainless-steel hands of the timepiece as well as the hour markers are fitted with luminescent material with the Cyclops lens magnifying the date display at the three o’clock position. The 12 o’clock hour marker is a triangle with the point down, the 3, 6, and 9 o’clock have index hour markers, and the rest use a round shape.

The Rolex Submariner Date’s Case

Today, the Rolex Submariner Date’s 41mm case is a bit larger than the original 36mm and is 13mm thick. It is a nice watch for everyday use and not thick like the Rolex Sea-Dweller or Deepsea watch. The crown on this Submariner uses a patented Triplock locking system to ensure the case is tightened securely like a submarine hatch. This technology is what helps the timepiece attain a 300-meter water resistance rating.

The Rolex Submariner Date’s Bracelet

Again, Rolex emphasizes usability and user experience. The Submariner 116610LN comes with an Oyster bracelet made of 904L Oystersteel and uses Rolex’s Glidelock extension system, allowing users to adjust the bracelet’s size quickly and easily. This mechanism allows users to adjust the bracelet by up to 20mm in 2mm increments, all without the use of any special tools.
