About the Watch

Before we get into the details, let’s go over some general information about the Rolex Daytona. Powered by the famous manual-wind Valjoux 727 chronograph movement, the Daytona ref. 6263 boasts the second-generation screw-down chronograph pushers that put it apart from earlier vintage Daytona references which came with traditional pump-style pushers. Produced from the early 1970s through 1987, the Daytona ref. 6263 was manufactured in stainless steel, 14k yellow gold, or 18k yellow gold.

Key Features of the Watch

For sake of keeping this article short and digestible, we will quickly list some of the key features of the Daytona ref. 6263 here. Of course, if you have specific questions about our inventory, you can stop by our location or give us a call.
As we mentioned earlier, the Daytona ref. 6263 was produced 1970-1987. With a case size of 37mm and made of stainless steel, 14k yellow gold, or 18k yellow gold, this timepiece keeps time with running seconds and features a 12-hour chronograph.
Though the Daytona ref. 6263 has a distinguishing, black acrylic bezel with a tachymeter scale, it was made available with a variety of different dials. Stainless steel pieces often came with black or silver dials while the black or champagne dials were popular on gold variants. The fundamental layout of the Daytona ref. 6263 is stable though: three registers at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock plus center hour, minute, and chronograph seconds hands – and, of course, no date window.
Part of the reason why the Rolex Daytona ref. 6263 is so desirable is that they represent Rolex’s final vision for its manually wound chronograph watch. They are the last true vintage Daytona models.
