Ulysse Nardin

Founded in 1846, Ulysse Nardin is best known for manufacturing near impeccable marine chronometers with award-winning accuracy. From Ulysse Nardins establishment to 1975, it has accumulated over 4,300 certificates, 2,400 special prizes, and 10 gold medals at international exhibitions. One of the first of these prestigious awards was the Prize Medal at the 1862 International Exhibition in London in the category of complicated watches and pocket chronometers.

Over fifty navies, including the US Navy, and international shipping companies have been equipped with Ulysse Nardins award-winning marine chronometers. In fact, the company was an official supplier for the US Navys torpedo boats and provided timepieces to the navies of the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, and Russia.

Rolex

Originally founded as Wilsdorf and Davis in London, England in 1905, the company registered Rolex as the brand name of its timepieces. Rolex catapulted its reputation into the stratosphere in 1926 when Mercedes Gleitze swam across the English Channel wearing a Rolex. That year, Rolex had created the Oyster the first ever waterproof and dustproof wristwatch. The Oyster consequently became the foundation on which Rolex has built its reputation. Rolex later, in 1931, invented the self-winding mechanism with a perpetual rotor. The Oyster watches thus became known as the Oyster Perpetual.

Since then, Rolex has become a world-renowned Swiss luxury watch brand based in Geneva. As of 2019, three of the worlds top ten most expensive watches sold at auctions are Rolex watches. With annual revenue approaching $5 billion and production at more than 800,000 pieces a year, Rolex continues to lead the luxury watchmaking industry. Rolex is undoubtedly a top status symbol.

Why Ulysse Nardin?
